Nurture Nurses Initiative
The mission of the Nurture Nurses Initiative is to create opportunities for young women in Muira Village to pursue their dreams of becoming nurses while strengthening healthcare in our community. We believe education and community can drive meaningful change—not only in the lives of individuals but also by inspiring them to become role models for other girls in the village. Through this initiative, we cover the cost of tuition, books, and materials needed for their education, and we also provide internships at the clinic while they are in school, giving them hands-on experience
In rural areas like Muira, empowering and educating women is crucial. Without support, many young girls face challenges that derail their futures—they often become young mothers, are forced to leave school, and lose the chance to pursue their dreams. By supporting these young women to become nurses, we’re breaking down barriers, challenging stereotypes, and inspiring others to see what’s possible.
We’ve had five women in the Nurture Nurses Initiative, and their journeys reflect the diverse challenges and opportunities in our community. Three of these women have worked at the clinic, one is currently continuing her studies in school, and another successfully became a nurse but had to step away from her career to support her family at home.
The success of the Nurture Nurses Initiative has sparked significant interest. There are many young women eager and willing to be part of this program, however, to meet this growing demand, we need additional funding to cover the costs of tuition, books, and materials. By expanding this program, we can help more women achieve their goals, reduce inequalities, and create a new generation of role models who will inspire others.
